Performance Dates: Tues 27th May – Thurs 5tht June
Venue: The Old Sorting Office Barnes

This comedy drama tells the story of Susan, mother of teenage daughter Lucy, who has to bring her mother, Gloria, home to live. The three women try to live in harmony but Susan finds living with a demanding mother and even more demanding daughter very challenging. Gloria introduces Lucy to Glenn Miller and teaches her how to dance, while Susan struggles to play the part of perfect mother and perfect daughter. In the end, it is screaming to the sound of Glenn Miller which gives Susan the ‘therapy’ she needs.
The play is about time and change and how each generation has something to pass on to the next. With great humour, it shows that the same problems which women experience occur generation after generation, while the world and attitudes rapidly change around them.

Hothouse

Performed by The Real People Theatre Company in York, March 11th 2006
Set in an office, this play at first appears to be about three menopausal women getting hot and flustered, but is an allegory on global warming, posing the question ‘What can ordinary women do to help?’
Directed by Sue Lister. Performed by Ann Murray, Liz Warren and Rose Drew
